19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his first title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents his initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour title, gained dominance to force a decider.

The opponent defended 4 initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
