Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the community for details.
A high-ranking representative said the vandalism rendered him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
